Feature Thursday: Peanut Blossom Cookies
Don't they look de-lish? There's a story behind these guys that travels all the way back my entire life. As a child growing up, my mom would make these at Christmas-time. They were pretty much the only cookie I ever loved to eat, and only getting them sporadically made them seem that much better! She would always bake the cookies and I'd sit by them and put the chocolate chips on (I still prefer the chocolate chips, and offer those in the shop, but these come with hershey kisses). They never seemed to last long with me around!

Making Custom Orders
Custom ordering has been hopping lately. And I'm so excited to get some of them done! I've gotten requests from 600 pretzels, to large cookie batches, to rocket-ship food!
It might be my favorite thing, to come online and see I've got multiple request for large work. I really appreciate my work getting noticed! I love making sweets more than anything, and large batches rock!
Some things to keep in mind when ordering a large batch.

Some things to keep in mind when ordering a large batch.
- Always let the shop know how many people you're buying for. They can't give an accurate quote with out a number!
- Make sure to say what kind of an event it is! And with nummycrummies, don't worry about wedding "price quotes" I don't agree with the 20% increase in price just for saying WEDDING! My prices are either consistent with what I sell, or cheaper in bulk orders.
- Always mention what you're interested in. And if there are any allergies the shop owner needs to be aware of.
- Make sure to say when the event is! I need to know if I have enough time for all my other orders to take on one more! I want to make sure that every order gets enough time to make the products perfect.
- Pre-read the store policies! Many simple questions about custom orders/batches can be found in there. If not, then feel free to ask!
- Mention what zip code we're going to ship to! It makes shipping quotes much easier!

Feature Tuesday: Chocolate Covered Pretzels
Yum. Nom Nom Nom! These little devils are terribly hard to resist! Salty crunchy pretzels coated in chocolate and topped with sprinkles. What's not to like? I've made these puppies for the past 3 years. You could say they are the anchor to my ship. The bread to my butter. The flagship of my vessel. It comes in many different combinations.
And drizzle in another chocolate!

Sugar...oh honey honey!
Spent the night baking my lovely "Chocolate Marshmallow Mudslide" cookies tonight! They are amazing! Very gooey, and chocolatey!
But that's not what I'm here to talk about. I'm planning on discussing the differences in chocolates. Milk, Dark, and White! Yummy Yummy!
While John, my co-creator prefers white, I on the otherhand love dark. You'll find that most things in my shop are in dark chocolate as pictured because of this. While I love dark chocolate, I'm not completely biased. I understand that some don't like the bitterness of it. (Might I say, taste it with the tip of your tongue! Then you'll realize how sweet it really is!)

But I digress. As milk chocolate is the most widely favored flavor, I agree, there is something quite nice about the trustworthy sweet. No matter where you get it, or what it's on, you can guarantee that it will be sweet. Whereas with some varieties of dark, they get more or less bitter.
White chocolate, on the other hand, is overly sweet. In my own humble opinion, I think it alerts too many receptors in my mouth. Okay, is that enough biology for us? White chocolate melts at a higher temperature, so perhaps this is why it's so sweet!
So what about you? What chocolate do you prefer?

nom. nom. nom.
Well hello, my foodies! Today has been crazy. Chocolate flying every which way, marshmallows getting put places they shouldn't be put. (For real, John. NOT in the refrigerator!) Hmm. I suppose as my introductory post I should introduce myself, the quasi-company, and all other "normal" things that go in a first post. Well. I'm not. Sorry to disappoint! Why write something when we're all going to learn over the next few months about me? It's more fun that way! Me, writing all my insane thoughts about food, sweets, and making treats. And you, sitting at the computer, wondering why they let the crazy lady out on the internet!
I guess one little detail you all should know is that I operate a shop on Etsy.com called Nummy Crummies. (Granted, most of you know this because I led you here, from there) It's filled with all kinds of goodies and treats, too cute enough to eat! Including, but not limited to: Chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate dipped strawberries, s'mores lollipops, and chocolate dipped Oreo cookies! As you can tell, I love chocolate. I love it on pretzels, I love it on trains, I love it under bicycles, and I love it in planes! I love chocolate, Sam I am. I do not like green eggs and ham! (Sorry, tangent!)
My favorite item thus far? Most definitely my S'mores Lollipops! I quite literally made 20 of them today, for a sample box, and ate about 10! =) They. are. so. good. It'll be dangerous to my waistline once I start getting orders for them! One for you....two for me! Two for you....three for me!
I opened shop up on October 7, 2010. Yes. Two days ago. Last night, I received my first order! I was super excited! It's such a rush, knowing how good your product is, and then realizing that others too, want to know how good it is! I'm also working on a surprise with another blogger that should leave me with a few new foodies to send sweets to!
So everyone? How did I do for a first post? Witty? (check!) Mouthwatering? (double check!) Long? (triple check!, with cherries on top!)
